As part of its energy research programme, the German government provided around 1.27 billion euros in 2010/2011 for promoting the research and development of modern energy technologies. This energy research programme is therefore making an important contribution to adapting and modernising Germany’s energy provision, which is very much required. A new energy research programme will be presented in spring 2011 as part of the further development of the German federal government’s energy and energy research policy. New focus areas include intelligent grid technology and storage technologies.
